Producers

It is unusual phenomenon to not know or at least not recognize the lead actor or actress in a film. It is rare to know the director’s name and rarer still to know, or even care who the producer is. How many people actually sit around for the credits just to be casually reminded who the producer was; deleted scenes, gag reels, and bloopers might hone the attention during the credits, but not the producer’s name. Yet, without the producer there would be no movie to run credits to, and subsequently no credits to put his name in. The producer garners the idea, arranges the financing, hires the writers and actors, and oversees the entirety of the…well, production. That is to say, the producer must not only imagine what the plot and storyline will be but must also fundamentally bring the idea from a mere conception to a reality - or at least a reality on the screen. They may not be the writer or director, but often have significant sway in influencing the outcomes of certain elements of the film. This is where the analogy breaks down however, since the One who is the producer of the entire universe (see Col. 1:16) is also author, director…and, indeed, the star!
