Satellites

It is remarkable how much of our daily lives is dependent on satellite operations and functioning.  Our GPS navigators receive data from geosynchronous orbiting satellites, while ATMs and other digital electronic funds transfer devices depend of the coordination of multiple satellites.  Far above the 211-mile orbit of the international space station, some satellites orbit at 20,000 miles or more.  What used to be the sufficient ‘law of the high seas,’ where countries agreed that beyond a certain threshold from any landmass, the open ocean was free for navigation, exploration, and not regulate by any nations’ diplomacy, has since become archaic and is now the ‘law (or lack thereof) of deep space.’  There are satellites that enable the guidance of ‘smart missiles’, and were these satellites to be disabled, by something as simple as spray-painting over their optics to prevent visual acuity or breaking off a solar panel, these satellites would render modern warfare obsolete.  China has recently been exploring anti-satellite weaponry, including other satellites that are able to undergo ‘proximity rendezvous sequences’, or in laymen’s terms, one satellite approaching another satellite with maleficent intentions.  This is a harrowing prospect, given that much of the United States’ preventative military measures depend on satellite communications.  Nonetheless, this does not have to be as immensely irksome as it seems - God’s sphere of dominion extends far beyond a few thousand miles above this terrestrial plane! “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.” (Psalm 20:7)
